The adventures of the mouse Desperaux

In a village at the foot of a castle, a mouse called Despereaux Tilling was born, which despite being very small had huge ears. At the school of mice, where they are taught to become aware of the dangers that mice face every day, Desperoux immediately demonstrates all his courage and recklessness, in the face of potential threats to his safety. In reality, his desire is only to know the world and irrepressible curiosity, which also leads him to find solutions to overcome obstacles. When they find a piece of cheese, which acts as bait for a trap, the little mouse, contemptuous of danger, skilfully skips the trap and grabs the piece of Gruyere cheese, thus ensuring dinner for his family. In a world where fear is the rule, Desperoux is the exception and is constantly reprimanded by his peers, in order to be afraid of everything around him: ravenous cats, cooks who hate mice and traps of all types. There came a day when Despereaux met Princess Pea, with whom he fell in love, to the point that when she was kidnapped, Despereaux realized he was the only one who could save her. For this contravention of the rules of the mice, Desperoux is condemned to end up in the underground kingdom of rats, the evil relatives of mice. Here he will make the acquaintance of Roscuro, a rat who for years lived on a ship and arrived in the city by mistake. Roscuro is also considered by his race as a different, as he loves being in the light, rather than wandering in the dark. Armed with his innate courage, the little mouse will teach the whole kingdom that a little light is enough to reveal the truth: and that no one can be judged by his appearance. The film is based on the book by Kate Di Camillo from 2003, which achieved great success with a very young audience. The director and Universal Animation Studios have taken great care of the settings and characteristics of each individual character, which allow us to enter a virtual reality, full of medieval and fairy-tale atmospheres, in a succession of adventures and twists. A modern fairy tale, inspired by the classic fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.
