Lalabel, The Magical Girl

The Lalabel cartoon (original title Maho shojo Lalabel) was broadcast for the first time on Italia 1 in 1982 and many will remember the theme song sung by Rocking Horse. Produced by Toei Animation in 1980, the series is divided into 49 episodes and is taken from the manga by Eiko Fujiwara.

Lalabel is a 10-year-old wizard (reminiscent of the famous Bia), coming from the Land of Magic. It all begins when the magician Biscus steals two briefcases containing respectively good magic and evil magic. Lalabel tries to prevent the theft, but during the fight they both fall to earth. Lalabel together with her magic cat, manages to retrieve the case of good magic (marked by an ace of hearts), while Biscus finds that of evil magic (where an ace of spades is depicted). Lalabel, however, can no longer return to her Land of Magic, but fortunately she is hosted by an elderly couple, who consider her as an adopted daughter. Lalabel will use magic with her wand, saying the word to "Balalalula!", Only to do good to people in need and to prevent the evil Biscus from using evil magic for his own purposes. Luckily, Biscus is a messy wizard and his magic will always come back to haunt him. For the rest, Lalabel mingles with her peers, behaving like a common girl where she will treasure the experiences and behaviors of the inhabitants of the earth by writing everything in a diary. Together with her friends Teko and Toko, she attends the school where the first coasts with her classmates begin, but also the first courtships.
