Fans of Johnny Blaze, the skull-faced biker surrounded by chains and flames, get ready for the next 23 March 2012 the second chapter of the "Ghost Rider" series with Nicolas Cage is back in Italian cinemas. The sequel, entitled "Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vendetta" (original title "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance"), will arrive in our country, distributed from Medusa, about a month after its release in American cinemas, which took place last February 17.

The story of Ghost Rider
The story that gave the start to both films (the first Ghost Rider is dated 2007) is the respect of a rule of life as simple as it is true: pacts are honored, especially if they are stipulated between a man and the devil, we have been taught by literature, music and even cinema. The motorcycle stuntman, played by Cage, several years after agreeing to host the demon entity Zarathos in his own body in order to save the life of his father and the woman he loves, Roxanne, (Eva Mendes in the first film), is forced to pay his debt. So every night he transforms into Ghost Rider, a bounty hunter of evil demons, taking on skeletal features as he dartes on his motorcycle, throwing fireballs from his hands and using, however, the curse and the powers he possesses for much more noble purposes: to defend the weak and innocent. And precisely to defend the life of an innocent, our motorcyclist, who lives isolated from the rest of the world to control his vengeful spirit and keep his demonic alter ego at bay, "returns to the track". Johnny Blaze, in fact, will help Moreau, an alcoholic monk, to track down a woman named Nadya and her son Danny Ketch endowed with special and supernatural powers, which however is also of great interest to Carrigan, an unscrupulous mercenary in the service of Evil.
This is where the new film starts, 95 minutes of pure, breathless action, in which our protagonist, the first of three super heroes of a saga born in the early 70's from the imagination of Marvel Comics cartoonists, will have to fight to save the life of the child who, in comics, is the third Ghost Rider, after Blaze and Carter Slade, the latter also appeared in the first film.

The last movie
"Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vengeance", compared to the first film by director Mark Steven Johnson, not new to directing films on Marvel characters (in 2003 he had, in fact, directed Ben Affleck in "Daredevil”) And which had not particularly impressed the public and critics, today presents itself with a greater chance of success, even if in the United States the film press has not been particularly tender and positive. The sequel, however, in theory should have the right cards to please the public, at least to those who appreciate this genre of feature films, thanks to a series of changes, special effects and technical innovations.
First of all, the direction has been entrusted to Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine, the same directors who directed the two chapters of the “Crank” saga, in 2006 and 2009, starring the indestructible Jason Statham. The two slightly rewrite the origins of the character of Nicolas Cage to make him adhere more to the story of the super hero of the comic, thus differentiating the two films, and, moreover, they particularly focus on action and reckless scenes because, in addition to being directors, they are also bold stuntmen.
Also changes the whole cast that loses the beautiful Eva Mendes and Peter Fonda, who played a little convincing Mephistopheles, to be honest, and who unlike the first would have gladly accepted to shoot this second film. Of course, the absolute protagonist Nicolas Cage remains and other stars of American cinema arrive but not only: among the interpreters we find Johnny Whitworth, the mercenary Carrigan, the French actor Christopher Lambert, who plays Methodius a monk ally of Moreau, and who for this role had to train hard for three months with the sword and shave his head and Idris Elba (Moreau). A piece of Italy also lands in Hollywood with our beautiful and increasingly launched in international cinema Violante Placido, who plays the role of Nadya, and whose charming qualities have also been enhanced by Cage who compared her to the talented Catherine Deneuve , in a recent interview with the newspaper "La Repubblica". The location of the film also changes, this time, in fact, the shooting took place in Europe (exactly in Romania and Turkey), while Australia was chosen for the first. According to the evil ones, the decision to change the setting, however, is mainly due to a budget problem for the new film.

The technical aspect
An element in favor for the second chapter is certainly the addition of the 3D effects, now indispensable details for many films, which will give the film a new and more engaging character for all those spectators who particularly appreciate the adrenaline-filled and high-end scenes. from explosions, fights to the last breath and endless chases. In addition, in this new experience, unlike the first, Nicolas Cage, a great admirer of this super hero who has always wanted to play, also played the part of Ghost Rider having to shoot many scenes in motion capture, which did not happen in the first. films in which this character was made entirely on the computer, and to make everything even more realistic and natural as possible, most of the visual effects were artfully modified to attract the interest of the spectators.
The script for "Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vengeance" is by David Goyer. Among the other interpreters also the little Fergus Riordan who will be Danny and Sorin Tofan who plays Kurdish.
