RAINING MEAT BALLS

The movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is inspired by the children's book written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Rob Barrett in 1978, which has now become a cult after having sold millions of copies all over the world. The success was born thanks to the author's visionary and humorous style, which lends itself perfectly to an animated film, but nobody had succeeded before the directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
The story stars the odd inventor Flint Lockwood, so immersed in his contraptions that he has serious communication problems with other people.
Despite his genius, Flint has only produced useless inventions like spray shoes and the translator of the monkey thoughts, which have brought more problems than good.
His hometown of Shallow Falls is experiencing a severe economic crisis as the sardine can factory has closed, so Flint wants to invent something to solve this problem, a machine that can turn water into food. Unfortunately this invention creates big problems, to the point that it accidentally destroys the town square and splashes towards the clouds. Despite his tireless optimism, with this latest failure he considers his career as an inventor definitively closed. But one day, as if by a miracle, meatballs rained down from the sky, a sign that his machine worked, albeit with completely unexpected results. Atmospheric food is hugely popular with the population and this contributes to the friendship between Flint and Sam Sparks, a pretty girl practicing on the Wether News Network, who dreams of becoming a weather forecast announcer. The young woman went to the city to discover what she considers "the greatest atmospheric phenomenon in history". However, the population is not satisfied and asks more and more cheesburger, so the machine burdened with an excessive workload, begins to give the first problems. This creates disturbing atmospheric phenomena such as spaghetti cyclones and meatball storms, which put the population at risk overwhelmed by mountains of meat and vegetables. Only Sam can help Flint in blocking this crazy machine, but that risks putting an end to her childhood dream. Sam has a great passion for science, so when he befriends Flint, his job becomes the ideal one.
Another very special character is Tim Lockwood, Flint's father, a gentleman who looks with suspicion at technology, as what he loves most is going fishing. When Flint's wacky food machine makes him the hero of the town, his father fears that things will only cause him problems, as with other inventions. Only when Flint gets discouraged does Tim show his son how much he truly values ​​and appreciates him.
Flint has his monkey Steve as his only friend in his studio, and he is convinced that humans would be better off if they understood the thought of animals, so he invented the translator of monkey thoughts. However, the only thought that crosses Steve's mind is a fixation for food and his invention turns out to be a failure. But the little monkey will be decisive and courageous in Flint's moments of greatest difficulty.
For the graphic style, the directors drew inspiration from illustrations by Miroslav Sasek and the gods Muppets Shows, which dictated the exaggeration in the movements of the funny and caricatured characters, who thus manage to convey strong emotions.
