Boxtrolls - the magic boxes a comic genre animated film based on Alan Snow's illustrated children's novel Here Be Monsters! (published in Italy with the title The monsters arrive! ). The cardboard, which is entirely shot in stop motion, Was conceived by Anthony Stacchi e Graham Annable (former creators of Coraline and the Magic Door e ParaNorman) and made by Universal Pictures in collaboration with the American animation studio At a time.

The protagonists of the animated film are the Box trolleys, a delightful and grotesque underground community made up of funny wearing creatures recycled cardboard boxes, as if they were turtle shells. They counterbalance the adorable underground monsters, the wealthy inhabitants of the refined Victorian town Cheesebridge (Pontecacio), always intent on accumulating wealth and irremediably obsessed with the smell of cheese. An ancient popular legend convinced the residents of Pontecacio to consider the trolls as dangerous enemies who, at night, rise to the surface from the city's manholes to steal their children and the cheese wheels.

Far from being evil creatures, in reality, trolls are characterized by a kind soul and a marked ecological sensitivity (they are, in fact, dedicated to recycling and recovery projects). So much so that they have grown lovingly Eggs, a human orphan who was taught to rummage through bins to search for waste materials that can be reused.

The life of the Boxtrolls runs smoothly until the treacherous Archibald Snatcher, in order to guarantee fame and social prestige among his fellow citizens, he decides to disinfest the city of Cheesebridge with a powerful pesticide. The diabolical plan of the exterminator aims, therefore, to exterminate the entire community of the Boxtrolls. In front of this terrible threat it will be Eggs and his young and rich friend Winnie to save the lovable and good-natured trolls. The determination and the good will of the two boys, in fact, will be able to reconcile the population of Cheesebridge with the community of the Boxtrolls, realizing an unexpected change.

Boxtrolls - the magic boxes a ironic tale and at the same time poetic, which intends to point the finger at the obsessions of modern society (the myth of wealth and social classes, the metaphorical addiction to cheese) and its reckless prejudices towards anyone who is different. The animated feature film will arrive in Italy on the big screen starting from the next one 2 October.
