Due to several misconceptions, Alvin, Simon and Theodore believe that, in New York, Dave is on the verge of asking for his new girlfriend's hand and leaving them in the lurch. The squirrel group has only three days to catch up with them and stop Dave's proposal, trying not only to recover their friend, but to save themselves from acquiring a bad stepbrother.
