In search of the Enchanted Valley 3 - The mystery of the source (The Land Before Time III: The Time of the Great Giving, transl. lit. The earth before time 3: The time of the great gift) is an adventure and musical animated film aimed at home video released in 1995 and directed by director Roy Allen Smith. It is the third film in the film series In search of the Enchanted Valley.

History

A meteor crashes near Great Valley, causing a drought that threatens the life of the dinosaurs. The growing shortage of water causes conflict between the inhabitants of the Great Valley, who previously lived in relative peace and harmony. When the situation between the different dinosaurs worsens, Little Foot and the others set out in search of water to keep the peace in the valley. They are chased by a trio of aggressive adolescent dinosaurs consisting of Hyp the Hypsilophodon, Mutt the Muttaburrasaurus and Nod the Nodosaurus. When Little Foot and the others find a small lake, the trio emerges and claims the pool for themselves, asking that Little Foot and the others keep silent about their discovery. Not wanting to obey, Little Foot and the others flee from the bullies. During the chase, the bullies are chased away by a wasp, and the baby dinosaurs discover the reason for the blockage of the water source.

Before they can return and tell the truth to the other inhabitants, lightning strikes a tree and ignites a fire, which quickly spreads across the valley. The fire then ravages the valley destroying most of the green food. The dinosaurs can barely escape to safety on the fringes of Mysterious Beyond. When pups tell adult dinosaurs about their discovery, disagreements erupt over what to do, preventing them from doing anything to use this knowledge. Hyp, Nod and Mutt set off alone for Mysterious Beyond to reach the water first. Anticipating the danger Hyp and his cohorts have gotten into and recognizing the commonality with them, Little Foot and the others follow them to help if needed. It becomes this way when Hyp jumps into a tar pit after mistaking it for water. He screams for help, but Mutt and Nod don't save him. Instead, they argue over which of them should save him. But Little Foot steps in and tells Mutt and Nod that Hyp is stuck in the tar pit. So, come up with a plan to get him out of trouble. Eventually, Little Foot and the others manage to save him from the tar pit. Soon after, the adults arrive and Hyp is severely scolded by his aggressive and grumpy father, leading Cera's father to realize that he is sometimes too hard on his daughter and that they need to work together to find water.

Before they are able to take any further steps, the dinosaur herd is suddenly attacked by a pack of 4 velociraptors. The pursuit leads to a boulder dam created by the landslide that caused the drought. As the Sharpteeth and the adults fight, the pups, including Hyp and his cronies, work together to break the dam. Everyone watches as the released water washes away the Sharp Teeth. The water also extinguishes the fires that still burn in the valley. Eventually they manage to survive and land on the opposite bank. Now the herd is able to return to Great Valley. The herd returns to Great Valley, which now has enough water for them. However, when they return home, the fire has destroyed most of their green food. The plants now devastated in the valley are irreparable from the fire. However, despite being irreparable, dinosaurs find spots in the Great Valley where green food still grows. They move proportionally from one green area to another and share everything they find. This pattern causes the event to be called the Time of Great Giving.
