Frog and Toad – the animated series for children on Apple TV+

Apple today announced a stunning spring lineup of all-new original series and specials for kids and families heading to its Apple TV+ streaming service. Among these frog and toad , based on Arnold Lobel's beloved characters for over fifty years, will be streamed starting April 28.

History

Frog is a frog. Toad is a toad. They have a lot in common… but they are also very different. Frog and Toad are two best friends who know that the real secret of friendship is not just enjoying the things you have in common, but embracing the things that make you different. Our differences are what make us special and Frog and Toad celebrate them in what makes them unique.

frog and toad is based on the beloved Caldecott and Newbery Award-winning four-book series by Arnold Lobel, published by HarperCollins Children's Books. Hoegee executive produces alongside Adrianne Lobel, Adam Lobel and Chris Prynoski ( The Legend of Vox Machina ), Shannon Prynoski ( Fairfax Antonio Canobbio Arlo the Alligator Boy ) and Ben Kalina ( Big Mouth ) by Titmouse.

The talented voice cast includes the Academy Award winner Nat Faxon ( Our Flag Means Death , The Connors ) and the Emmy nominee Kevin Michael Richardson ( The Simpsons , Family Guy ) as Frog and Toad, in addition to appearances by Ron Funches ( Trolls ), Fortune Feimster ( Good fortune , Kenan ), Cole Escola ( At Home with Amy Sedaris ), Aparna Nancherla ( The Great North ), John hodgman ( Up Here ),Yvette Nicole Brown ( Disenchanted , Act Your Age ), stephen tobolowsky ( The Goldbergs ), the Emmy nominee Tom Kenny ( SpongeBob SquarePants ), Selene Luna ( Coco ), the Emmy nominee Margaret Cho ( Fire Island ) to Betsy Sodaro ( Duncanville ).

Production

The Jim Henson Company of Los Angeles has acquired the film and consumer product rights to the classic 70s children's book series frog and toad , written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. An animated film featuring the comic adventures of the reptilian friends is in development, while a licensing program based on the original artwork from the series is underway.

The Lobel series consists of four books frog and toad and five short stories that have sold more than 13 million copies over the years and continue to sell over a million copies annually for publisher HarperCollins. The characters inspired two wonderful clay specials in the mid-80s, directed by John Clark Matthews and produced by Churchill Films.

Lisa Henson will produce the animated film which is scheduled for release in 2014, while Adam and Adrianne Lobel are on board as executive producers. Craig Bartlett ( Dinosaur Train e Hey Arnold! ) is writing the screenplay and Cory Edwards ( Hoodwinked ) is assigned to direct.
