The Abrafaxe and the pirates of the Caribbean  (Die Abrafaxe - Unter schwarzer Flagge in the German original) is an 81-minute German animated film, directed by Gerhard Hahn and Tony Power. It was made in 2001 and is based on the popular and long-running German comic series Die Abrafaxe by Lona Rietschel and Lothar Dräger.

The history of Abrafaxe

The Abrafaxe, a trio made up of kids Abrax, Brabax e California they can travel in time thanks to a mysterious golden bowl. During one of their adventures, they find themselves in the XNUMXth century Caribbean, on an island manned by terrible pirates.

The film boasts excellent animation and is full of exciting and adventurous scenes. The Abrafaxe and the pirates of the Caribbean is the first film featuring characters from one of Germany's most famous comics. The first attempts to make a film or TV series about this comic always failed very soon.

In addition to a German version, an English version was also created for the international market. Internationally, the film gained a fairly wide distribution, especially in Eastern Europe and Asia, the film was successfully sold.

The German film and media rating FBW of Wiesbaden gave the film a great value.

The screenplay is by Julius Grützke, Thomas Platt. The film was produced by Gerhard Hahn and Klaus D. Schleiter, while the production companies are Abrafaxe Trickfilm AG, Hahn Film AG, Universal Pictures.
