The animated film “Jesus” will be released in theaters worldwide in 2025

The 1979 Jesus film, produced by Jesus Film Project and Premise Entertainment, will soon be revived with an animated version. Set for release in 2025, it promises to take audiences back to the time of Jesus using cutting-edge animation technology and the talent of entertainment industry veterans.

Dominic Carola, a director with 30 years of experience in the animation industry, is enthusiastic about this project. After working for Disney and contributing to successful feature films such as The Lion King, Mulan and Lilo and Stitch, Carola founded Premise Entertainment. “It's an honor to bring this film to life with such an exceptional team. We are leaning on the classic elements of the golden age of illustrators with the aim of creating a beautiful film that matches the content of the story.” Carola said.

The film is produced by Ray Aguerrevere and Stuart Lowder, written by Barry Cook and features the participation of several industry professionals, including Jason Fricchione, Tracey Dispensa, John Helms, Armand Serrano and Lauren Stevens.

The Jesus Film Project produced the original 1979 live-action film and has been distributing it for over 40 years, translated into more than 2.000 languages and seen by billions of people around the world. The new animated version aims to bring the age-old story to younger generations with a new visual interpretation.

“I continue to be amazed by the award-winning talent and team that is coming together to create this film and the immersive digital experience that will follow,” said producer Ray Aguerrevere. “For me, the most exciting aspect is how we will be able to redistribute these assets from the animated film to create accessible experiences across various platforms including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and 'emerging Metaverse'.
