Kodansha delays new issues for 10 magazines due to state of emergency - News


Updates on digital manga services will also be delayed


Kodansha announced Tuesday that due to the state of emergency declared more than seven prefectures in Japan will delay the publication date of some of its magazines and magazine supplements. Affected issues include:

  • Morning two June issue (originally scheduled for April 22)
  • Anne Friend number 43 (originally scheduled for May 1st)
  • Young Magazine the 3rd June issue (originally scheduled for May 7)
  • Good! Afternoon June issue (originally scheduled for May 7)
  • Bessatsu Shōnen magazine June issue (originally scheduled for May 9)
  • Young monthly magazine June issue (originally scheduled for May 20)
  • Hatsu Kiss 25th issue (originally scheduled for May 25th)
  • comic tint volume 27 (initially scheduled for June 5)
  • Honey milk volume 49 (initially scheduled for June 10)
  • Shōnen Magazine R July issue (originally scheduled for June 20)

Furthermore, Kodansha noticed that some manga in his Comic days, Magazine Pocket and Palcy digital manga services will have delayed updates.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a state of emergency in seven prefectures last Tuesday, including Osaka and Hyogo (both close to Kyoto) and Tokyo. The governor of Kyoto prefecture said on Friday he asked the Japanese government to add Kyoto to the list of prefectures placed in a state of emergency. The governor of Aichi prefecture in a similar way asked The Japanese government added that prefecture to the list on Thursday, and on Friday independently declared a state of emergency. Hokkaido declared a second state of emergency on Sunday.

The seven prefectures will remain in a state of emergency to 6 May.
