Pinocchio the Disney live action film will debut on September 8 on Disney +

Disney + has released the new trailer and the key art of the Disney live action Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio which will debut on the streaming platform on September 8, on the occasion of Disney + Day. The film stars Tom Hanks, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, Lorraine Bracco, with Cynthia Erivo and Luke Evans.

The return of the beloved Disney classic will also see in the cast the Italian actor winner of three David di Donatello and two Nastri d'Argento, Joseph Battiston (Perfect strangersBread and Tulips), who will play the role of Mangiafuoco.

Also, the singer Frances Alina, semifinalist of the fourth edition of The Voice of Italy and voice of the Social Band of Radio2 Social Club, she will interpret "Una stella falls", the Italian version of "When you wish upon a star", a song sung by the Blue Fairy, a character who has the face of Cynthia Erivo in the film.

Directed by Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio revisits in a live action the beloved story of a wooden puppet who embarks on an exciting adventure to become a real child. Tom Hanks plays Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and cares for Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the Jiminy Cricket, guide of Pinocchio and "conscience" of him; Academy Award® nominee Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is the Fox; Academy Award® nominee Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character; and Luke Evans is the Postillion. The cast also includes Kyanne Lamaya in the role of Fabiana (and her puppet Sabina), Giuseppe Battiston in that of Mangiafuoco and Lewin Lloyd in that of Candlewick.

In addition to the beloved songs from the animated classic, including "A Star Falls" (original title "When You Wish Upon a Star") starring Frances Alina in the Italian version and Cynthia Erivo in the original version, the film features new original songs. composed by Oscar® nominees Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard (Polar Express).
 
The script of Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio is written by Robert Zemeckis & Chris Weitz. The film is produced by Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz, Robert Zemeckis and Derek Hogue, while Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine, Jeremy Johns and Paul Weitz are executive producers.
