Rubik, the Amazing Cube - The 1983 animated series

Rubik, the Amazing Cube was a 1983 Saturday morning half-hour animated series based on the famous puzzle game created by Ernő Rubik, produced by Ruby-Spears Enterprises and broadcast as part of The Pac-Man / Rubik, the Amazing block Cube Hour on ABC from 10 September to 10 December 1983 and continuous reruns until 1 September 1984. Rubik's Lamezz'ora ran as an independent series on ABC from 4 May to 31 August 1985.

The program featured a magical Rubik's cube called Rubik that could fly through the air and had other special powers. Rubik could only come to life when he was in a resolved state. Rubik's voice, Ron Palillo, told TV Guide in 1983 that he spoke very slowly for the role and then the technicians sped up the tapes and raised the tone. Palillo said that Rubik's laugh was very different from the typical laugh of Horshack, his character from the TV series Welcome Back, Kotter, and that it was nice "for an inanimate object.

History

Rubik had fallen from the diligence of an evil wizard, who became the main villain of the series. Rubik helped Carlos, Lisa and Reynaldo Rodriguez thwart the magician's attempts to recover Rubik. Once, Rubik was recovered by a detective who was a relative of the wizard, but then decided that the children should keep Rubik as the wizard would use him for evil and selfish purposes.

Outside of the evil wizard, the episodes usually have to do with more normal opponents, such as when Reynaldo ran into a bully who had thwarted his efforts to get a potential girlfriend, while at the same time the bully was getting himself done. look decent to the girl. Rubik worked in secret to expose the bully's true brutal personality in front of the girl.

For dramatic purposes, the cube was easily completely reshuffled (e.g. by being dropped or grabbed by the family dog, and at least once Rubik climbed on himself) and usually quickly resolved by Rodriguez children, albeit under stressful circumstances there it took longer. When coded, Rubik can only be heard in an incomprehensible way and can sometimes be heard saying "Help".
