Police Academy - Police Academy - The 1988 animated series

Police school (original title: Police Academy) is a 1988 animated series based on the Police Academy film series of the same name. The cartoons were made by Ruby-Spears Enterprises for Warner Bros. for a total of 65 episodes over two seasons.

In Italy the series was broadcast for the first time since 1991, first on Canale 5 and then on Italia 1. It had numerous repeats also on other broadcasters

Some episodes feature a crime boss named Kingpin. His keen intelligence, girth and stature are very similar to the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Other new characters have also been added to the show. Among them was a group of talking police dogs called the Canine Corps. They consisted of Samson (the bulldog leader), Lobo (the noble but clumsy husky), Bonehead (the stupid giant Saint Bernard), Chilipepper (the short-tempered chihuahua) and Schitzy (the only female golden retriever with an identity crisis. ). The theme song is performed by the Fat Boys, who also make an appearance in two episodes as House's Friends: Big Boss, Cool and Mark. The Robert Folk theme for the films is used, uncredited, in the credits.

The animated series was more popular in Europe, especially in Italy. It was especially popular in the Arab world, where it was broadcast on Spacetoon and Al Aoula. In Japan, the animated series aired on TV Tokyo and then on TV Asahi.

History

The animated series takes place within the events between the fourth and fifth film of the same name.

Thirteen characters are recreated for this animated version, including a team of Academy graduates led by Carey Mahoney, a likeable rogue bachelor, who unconsciously and constantly does his best to make life difficult for Captain Harris and his assistant sergeant.

Mahoney's friends include Moses Hightower, sound effects master Larvell Jones, trigger-happy Eugene Tackleberry, sweet and shy Laverne Hooks, hardened Debbie Callahan, colossal House and the duo of reformed gang member Zed McGlunk and the his best friend, Carl Sweetchuck.

Eric Lassard is the highly respected (albeit dreamy) commander, and the Academy's newcomer The Professor is also on hand, as well as new cadets friends, the K-9 Corps, a group of police dogs, and supplying heroes of the fight crime with an endless supply of wacky gadgets as you battle a diverse group of Kingpins and other recurring villains like Numbskull, The Claw, Mr. Sleaze, Lockjaw and Amazona.
