Seirei Gensouki - Spirit Chronicles - The story of the anime and manga
Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles is a Japanese light novel series written by Yuri Kitayama and illustrated by Riv. It was posted online between February 2014 and October 2020 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was later acquired by Hobby Japan, which has published eighteen volumes since October 2015 under his signature HJ Bunko. The manga adaptation featuring Tenkla's drawings was posted online via Hobby Japan's Comic Fire website from October 2016 to February 2017, having been discontinued due to the artist's poor health. A second manga adaptation featuring drawings by Futago Minaduki has been published online via the same website since July 2017 and collected in five tankōbon volumes. An adaptation of the anime television series produced by TMS Entertainment premiered in July 2021.
History
Haruto Amakawa is a young man who died before he could meet his childhood friend, who passed away five years ago. Rio is a boy who lives in the slums of Bertram's kingdom, who wants to take revenge on behalf of his mother, who was killed in front of him when he was five. Earth and another world. Two people with completely different backgrounds and values. For some reason, Haruto, who should have died, is resurrected in Rio's body. As the two are confused about their memories and personalities merging together, Rio (Haruto) decides to live in this new world. Along with Haruto's memories, Rio awakens a "special power" and it seems that if used well, it can live a better life. To complicate matters, Rio suddenly stumbles upon a kidnapping involving the two princesses of Bertram's kingdom.
Characters
Haruto Amakawa
Rio is the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student who died in an unfortunate accident and an orphan from the slums of the Kingdom's capital, Bertram. He swore to avenge his mother's death. When Rio awakened the memories of his previous life as Haruto, their personalities were forced to share a single body and mind. He rescued the kidnapped Princess Flora and, as a reward, was allowed to enroll in the Bertram Kingdom Royal Institute. Later, due to a false accusation, he became a fugitive before he could graduate and was forced to flee the country. Rio traveled to the Far East to her mother's homeland to find her roots and stabilize her mixed personality. There, Rio meets his large family and cousin and discovers that his mother was a runaway princess from the Karasuki kingdom. Years later, he returned to the West with a new identity under the name of Haruto, with the aim of taking revenge on his parents' enemies. Celia Claire (Seria Kurēru)
Celia was Rio's teacher and her only companion when she was studying at the Bertram Royal Academy. The first day of school he taught him to read and write numbers. She and Rio spent a lot of time together in her lab. He gradually fell in love with Rio. When Rio returned to Bertram to visit her, she discovered that Celia had been forced to become the seventh wife of Charles Arbor. After Rio rescued her, they lived at Rock House for a while and Celia learned to perceive magical power and some basic principles of spirit magic. Celia is currently on her way to the Resistance along with the first princess Christina and her royal guard.
Aishia
Aishia is the contracted spirit of Rio. She is willing to do anything for Haruto's happiness. Rio discovered she was a high-class spirit after meeting the giant tree spirit, Dryad.
Latifa (Ratīfa)
Latifa, a young beast fox; the reincarnation of Endo Suzune, an elementary school student who died on the same bus with Haruto and Rikka, was initially an enemy of Rio. The Huguenot duke had enslaved her and trained her to be a ruthless killer by chaining her with a collar of submission. Fortunately, Rio defeated her and freed her. Latifa decided to follow Rio on his journey and became his adoptive little sister. She is very fond of Rio. Rio crossed the borders between the Strahl region and the wilderness just to let them meet the spirits. It is strongly implied that she has romantic feelings for Rio (partly due to her past as Suzune), and is very jealous of other girls when they interact with Rio.
Miharu Ayase (綾 瀬 美 春, Ayase Miharu)
Miharu Ayase is Haruto's first love and childhood friend. He waited a long time to reunite with Haruto after his parents' divorce. Rio found Miharu and company in the forest, he was confused about how to interact with her again as his moral values were different from when he was Haruto. He also hated the idea of involving Miharu in his quest for revenge. Later, Aishia gave Miharu a dream about Haruto and Rio's past before they reunited. Christina Beltrum (ク リ ス テ ィ ー ナ ＝ ベ ル ト ラ ム, Kurisutīna Berutoramu)

Flora Beltrum
The second princess of the kingdom of Beltram and younger sister of Christina Beltram. She is kind by nature and loved by people. She was enrolled in the Royal Institute one year under Rio. Due to the false accusations against him, Rio is extremely wary of Flora. At the same time, he has no grudge against her personally since he knows she didn't frame him. Flora is the first inhabitant of the kingdom of Beltram to recognize Rio despite her disguise. Satsuki Sumeragi (皇 沙 月)
A Japanese high school student who was summoned to another world as a Hero has descended into the Kingdom of Galwark. Liselotte has the memories of Rikka Minamoto, a Japanese high school student who also died in the accident with Haruto and Suzune. Charles Arbor (シ ャ ル ル ＝ ア ル ボ ー, Sharuru Arubō)
The son of Duke Helmut Arbor. He was the deputy commander of the royal guard until Flora's kidnapping, he tried to force Rio into falsely confessing that he was Flora's kidnapper and torturing him just a way to protect his position or avoid embarrassment. In Japan, she is Haruto's half-sister and has always felt special with him and Miharu. After his father found out that Aki was not his daughter, he divorced his mother and took Haruto with him. They lived alone for several years until his mother remarried to Takahisa and Masato's father. Aki's plea for Haruto's return never came and her devotion to him turned to hatred. On her first day of middle school, when Aki was returning home with her siblings, along with Miharu and Masato, she was drawn into the summoning of the hero of Satsuki and Takahisa. He is determined to reunite with his brothers and Miharu, whom he has a crush on, despite Satsuki's claims that they are safer where they are now. Takahisa paid no attention to Miharu's feelings for Rio or the fact that he had another half-brother, Haruto.
Rui Shigekura (ル イ ・ シ ゲ ク ラ)
Rui is the Hero belonging to the Kingdom of Beltram. He is half Japanese and half American and is the heir to a company CEO, and accompanied by his senpai Rei, classmate Kouta and girlfriend Akane before being summoned and dragged to the Stralh region. Immediately after the summoning, he slowly understood the otherworldly language, something that eventually pushes Kouta away due to the inferiority complex, forcing Rui to question his friendships. Rui has somehow agreed to become a Hero and seems to have a cooperative and cordial relationship with the military and other heroes (Hiroaki, Takahisa, Satsuki, etc.). When Celia is "kidnapped" by her marriage to Charles, Rui chases Rio from afar and in a fight, unaware of her intentions. Sakata Hiroaki (坂 田弘明)
Hiroaki is a hikikomori and college ronin despite having good grades in high school. He spent on reading complete novels, playing role-playing games, one day he was summoned to the Stralh region as a hero. After his meeting with Flora, and receiving an explanation from her and Duke Hugenot, Hiroaki comes to the conclusion that he is the "star of the world" and by inflating his ego he basically takes his time picking up women. He became part of Hugenot's entourage as he visited several influential people from the kingdom of Galarc in search of support for his faction such as Liselotte and King François. His poor performance leads Rio to show him that daily training is necessary and his new status doesn't make a hero a bomb on the map.
Rei Saiki (斉 木 怜)
A Japanese high school student was dragged to another world with Rui, Kouta and Akane. When he realized Kouta's plan to escape with Christina and decided to follow him to be sure he would not take a strange path. In the banquet for Christina, Rei is introduced to Rosa Dandi, daughter of a baron, and becomes her boyfriend. Rei then decides to seriously study magic in Rodania to become a court magician.
Kouta Murakumo (村 雲浩 太)
A student at the top of his school and has always been among the best in club qualifications and activities. Anytime Rui started dating her childhood friend Akane.
