Live-action film Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac unveiled

The Hollywood Reporter posted the cast and staff for the manga's live-action film Saint Seiya's Masami Kurumada. He also noted that the project, entitled I Knights of the Zodiac, is “from production” in Hungary and Croatia.

The movie stars mackenyu , Madison Iseman, Sean Bean , Famke Janssen (X-Men, Corrupt, The Crypt, second from right), Nick Stahl, Diego Tinoco ( third from right), e Mark Dacascos (extreme right).

Polish animator and special effects creator Tomasz Baginski (Oscar nominated animated short "Katedra", the sorcerer) is heading for Toei together with  Sony Pictures Acquisitions around the world. Andy Cheng (Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings) is the stunt coordinator and the fight coordinator. Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken are the latest writers on the screenplay for the film. Toei is distributing in Japan, e Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions distributes outside of Japan, except in China and the Middle East.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the story of the film:

In what is labeled an origin story, mackenyu plays Seiya, a street orphan and the main hero of the franchise. When a mystical energy known as Cosmo awakens in him, Seiya embarks on a journey to conquer the ancient Greek armor of Pegasus and choose his side in a supernatural battle for the fate of Sienna (Iseman), a young girl who fights to control his divine powers.

Bean plays a mentor named Alman Kiddo, a man who recruits Seiya into the order of the Knights, which he founded when he discovered the reincarnated goddess. Tinoco is a man hired to kill the vulnerable goddess.

Kurumada published the original Saint Seiya manga from 1986 to 1990. The manga inspired a series of television anime, original video anime projects, anime films and manga spin-offs. The original series has 35 million copies in print. The Saint Seiya: Saintia Sho the spinoff manga also has an anime.
