Discovering Santa Claus - the 1984 anime series
Elves of the Forest (Japanese original: 森 の ト ン ト た ち Mori no Tonto Tachi) is a Japanese animated series (anime) made by Nippon Animation in 1984, based on the children's book by Yoshiyaki Yoshida. The series was broadcast for the first time by the Japanese network Fuji TV starting from October 1984 and in Italy by Italia 1 starting from December 1986.
The initial and final Italian theme song entitled Discovering Santa Claus, music and arrangement by Carmelo Carucci, text by Alessandra Valeri Manera, is interpreted by Cristina D'Avena. In 2009 the singer made a remake: this modernized version, rearranged by maestro Valeriano Chiaravalle and reinterpreted by her, was included in her Christmas album Magia di Natale.
History
The story tells of a small village in Lapland, Finland near the North Pole, where the "Tontos" live. These gnomes prepare gifts throughout the year, which will then be delivered by Santa Claus, to children around the world on the night of December 25th. The story has as its protagonist little Elisa, Uffo's niece, Santa's butler, who with her innocence, curiosity and playfulness, lives amusing and touching adventures helping the gnomes in their daily work, surrounded by her family and friends.
