“Killers of the Cosmos” a short film about threats from space on the Science Channel

Space inspires awe and wonder, but it can also be frightening… and deadly. Supermassive black holes, deadly gamma-ray bursts, rogue asteroids, dark energy, supernova - our world is under attack from above. Defuse this time bomb with elegant animated storytelling, Killers of the Cosmos  premiered this Sunday, Sept. 19 at 21 p.m. ET / PT on Science Channel and streaming on discoveryplus. com.

The series takes a film noir approach to these threats, mixing animated scripts with leading experts in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics, biology, cosmology and planetary sciences. Aidan Gillen steps in as our chewing gum detective. In each episode, he has a case to solve, but he needs proof first. Aided by a mysterious whistleblower, he investigates every disaster unfolding through a wide range of experts who have studied some of science's most incredible wonders.

Dark stars, death rays, little green men, killer rocks, cosmic debris and the great sleep make up the six cases, each with a different mortal danger lurking in the depths of space. His conclusion: the Earth is at the forefront. It is not a question of whether these things will hit, but when!

Killers of the Cosmos  is produced by Wall to Wall Media Ltd for bilibili (Shanghai Kuanyu Digital Technology Co., Ltd) and Discovery, Inc.
