"Sulwe" the bestselling book by Lupita Nyong'o becomes a Netflix movie
Netflix has announced a new musical animation film titled sulwe, based on the bestselling book of the same name by the Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, illustrated by Vashti Harrison and published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. Nyong'o is writing the adaptation for the film.
Sulve's story
Sulwe has midnight skin. She is darker than anyone she knows. All she wants is to be beautiful and shiny. One night, Sulwe receives a visit from a shooting star sent by Night and embarks on a magical journey, in which he learns the enlightening story of the sisters Night and Day. Sulwe is a story about colors, self-esteem and learning that true beauty comes from within.

Earlier this year, Lupita Nyong'o read sulwe in the context of Bookmarks -- a live action series that features prominent black celebrities and artists reading children's books by black authors, highlighting the black experience.
