After announcing the premiere of the series as part of its Halloween lineup "Netflix & Chills", Netflix has released the trailer and the first images of the animated series. On a dark and scary night (A Tale Dark & Grimm), inspired by the dark and magical stories of European folklore. The 10 x 26 ′ CG animated series will premiere in streaming on October 8.
Based on Adam Gidwitz's best-selling book series, On a dark and scary night (A Tale Dark & Grimm) follows Hansel and Gretel as they run away from home to find better parents… or at least the ones who won't cut off their heads! As Hansel and Gretel leave their history and venture through other classic Grimm fairy tales, unexpected storytellers guide us through their encounters with witches, sorcerers, dragons, and even the devil himself. As the brothers wander through a forest overflowing with menacing enemies, they learn the true story behind the famous tales, as well as how to take charge of their own destinies and create their own happy ending. Because once upon a time fairytales were great.
The series features the voices of Raini Rodriguez (Jurassic World: Cretaceous Field), Andre Robinson (The House of Loud), Scott Adsit (Big Hero 6: The Series), Ron Funches (Troll), Erica Rhodes (La Vie en Rhodes), Adam Lambert (Playmobil: the movie), Eric Bauza (Space Jam: a new legacy), Tom Hollander (American father!), Missi Pyle and Nicole Byer (Nailed it).
Industry veteran Simon Otto (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia), who was in charge of character animation on the DreamWorks trilogy How to Train Your Dragon, serves as the supervising director and executive producer of the series. David Henrie, James Henrie, Bug Hall, Bob Higgins, Jon Rutherford and Doug Langdale are executive producers.
