The Hare and the Tortoise children's stories | Cartoons
Hare and Tortoise is a German-style board game by David Parlett and first published in England in 1973 [1] by Intellect Games. In 1978 it was published by Ravensburger in Germany, where it was a huge success. It has since sold 2 million copies in at least ten languages. In Italy it was published by Ravensburger in 1984.
Setting
The game is based on Aesop's fable The Hare and the Tortoise in which the tortoise and the hare decide to compete. The tortoise wins the race thanks to her cunning, while the hare fails because she was sure of her advantage and took a nap during the race. The moral of the story "slow and steady wins the race" is incorporated into the game mechanics.
The German title Hase und Igel ("The hare and the porcupine") derives from the homonymous German fable popularized by the Brothers Grimm, in which a porcupine competes against the hare and wins because his wife is present at the arrival and the hare he mistakes it for his opponent in the race
