The animated film of “Toto”, based on the book by Michael Morpugo, is starting

The Warner Animation Group has hired director Alex Timbers to direct the animated film  Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz, (Toto: The Incredible Story of the Wizard of Oz) by award-winning British children's book author Michael Morpurgo. The film does not yet have a release date.

Timbers is co-creator and co-executive producer of the Golden Globe-winning live-action series Mozart in the jungle. He is also known for directing and executive producing the television music event Ben Platt live from Radio City Music Hall and special comedy John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City. His credits also include stage direction for The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway TV movie. Pools marks his first animation project.

The director will work on a screenplay by writer John August, who wrote Guy Ritchie's billionaire live-action Aladdin reimagining, and was nominated for a BAFTA for his script for Tim Burton's fantasy drama Big Fish.
