Akira Toriyama explains how Dragon Ball Saiyans really age

In the years, Dragon Ball has done a lot to enrich her world and the series has expanded tenfold since it began with its growing multiverse. Of course, that means there are still tons of unexplained questions in the series, and the race Saiyan it has aroused several. For example, the question of how the alien race ages has been intriguing fans for some time. However there is no need to worry, because the author of Dragon Ball Z unraveled the mystery in a long-forgotten interview that recently re-emerged.

The aging debacle of Saiyan was addressed directly by Akira Toriyama some years ago. The artist addressed the problem in the book Dragon Ball Super Exciting Guide. Toriyama did a special Q&A in light of the franchise's most recent series for driving, and it was there that he illustrated the Saiyans' aging process.

“Saiyans are a warrior race, so their aging slows down once they reach a suitable age to fight, and they maintain great strength for a long time. However, their lifespan is not very different from that of Earthlings, and when they reach a certain age, they quickly become brittle, "Toriyama said (via Kanzenshuu).

So that's it. The Saiyans obviously they get older, but there seems to be a special way this happens. For guys like Goku e Vegeta, they spend most of their lives in perfect shape. This means that the fighters lean on their childhood and young adulthood, as it is the time when they are most physically fit for battle. However, after their power diminishes with time, the Saiyans they age rapidly. This phenomenon can be seen with characters such as King Vegeta. While the man was still ready for battle, his aged appearance betrayed the true power of the king.

King Vegeta

Oddly enough, King Vegeta is one of the oldest Saiyans we've seen, aside from Broly's father. It seems that most Saiyan warriors do not live to grow old, as their proud pride requires that they die in battle rather than in bed. Broly's father managed to avoid such a fate thanks to his enforced isolation, but few other Saiyans have been so lucky. And after all, maybe Goku and Vegeta will join Broly's father in that exclusive club.
