Dink the little dinosaur – the animated series from 1989
Dink, the Little Dinosaur is an American animated series created by Karen Willson and Chris Weber and produced by Ruby-Spears Enterprises. The series originally aired as part of the CBS Saturday morning line-up from September 16, 1989 to November 3, 1990, while in Italy it was first broadcast on VHS in the 90s and then on Boomerang from 2003, while arriving in clear on Boing since 2004. The last transmission in Italy dates back to 2006 on Boomerang.
History
The series chronicles the adventures of little dinosaur Dink and his four friends as they explore and dwell in the volcanic landscape of prehistoric times at a place called Green Meadow. Designed to help children navigate the world of friendship and make friends, the stories fostered positive behaviors such as caring for themselves and others, tolerance, ecology, problem solving, and teamwork.
Season XNUMX introduced a weekly segment called "Factasaurus" which taught lessons and fun facts that educated children about the different species of dinosaurs.
Characters
Dink
Courageous, intelligent and has a strong bond with his friends. Dink is a brontosaurus, similar to Littlefoot from the animated film In search of the Enchanted Valley (The Land Before Time) .
Amber
Amber is a close friend of Dink. She is like an older sister figure.
scat
He tends to be paranoid, but has a huge appetite and speaks in the third person. Sometimes his appetite gets him into trouble, especially when it involves his favorite food called honey fruit.
Shyler
he is Dink's shy, speech-impaired friend and looks up to Dink and Amber as older siblings.
Flopper
he tends to be a bluster and a joker and speaks with a slight stammer. He constantly tries to land in the water, but always fails.
Crust
is a turtle who mentors young dinosaurs and tells them stories that often help teach them valuable lessons.
Ariel she lives at the Lake of Mists and is seen by the other dinosaurs as an almost supernatural figure.
Uncle Long Beak he is Flapper's uncle, who he talks about a lot.
Pearl Pearl she is Shyler's friend.
Scratching post it is a herbivore by choice.
Red it is sometimes called the Thundermaker. In reality he is a spirit who lived in the Cave of Spirits.
Shake the earth Shakes the ground when walking and talking. None too fond of the smaller creatures, but willing to return a favor.
Dippo he is afraid of what other dinosaurs think of his kind. He is good friends with Shyler.
Op he is a friend of the gang who helps Ariel escape from Tyrannor.

Trail Blazers Trail Blazer used its tail to create Green Meadow and Tarpit Pass (which protects Green Meadow from hunters like Tyrannor).
Patch and Retail the Patch and Ridetail are children of the Trail Blazer.
Strongfoot he was once the Trail Blazer's rival.
Tiny is a friend in need, helped by Dink to get fruit guarded by a bullish Dicraeosaurus.
