Dr. Ed Catmull, pioneer of computer graphics, co-founder of Pixar and former president of Pixar Animation and Walt Disney Animation Studios, will speak at the main Italian event on digital media VIEW Conference. The 21st edition of the curated annual conference will take place October 18-23 online and on-site in Turin, Italy.

In 2019, Dr. Catmull received the "Nobel Prize in Information Technology," the $ 1 million Turing Prize, which he shared with Dr. Pat Hanrahan. He is the author of the book, creativity, inc., which was shortlisted for the Financial Times and the Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award.

He has also received three academic, engineering and technical awards, an Academy Award of Merit for significant advances in the field of moving image rendering, and the Academy's Gordon E. Sawyer Award for a career in computer graphics. He is a member of the Computer History Museum and the Visual Effects Society. Dr. Catmull was also awarded the IEEE John von Neumann Medal, the VES Georges Méliès Award, the Annie Awards Ub Iwerks Award for Technical Achievement, the PGA's Vanguard Award and induction into the VES Hall of Fame.

Under the guidance of Dr. Catmull, Pixar's feature films and animated shorts have received 16 Oscars and Disney Animation's feature and animated shorts have won five.

The VIEW international conference, the first event in Italy for Computer Graphics, Interactive and Immersive Storytelling, Animation, Visual Effects, Games and VR, AR and Mixed Reality, brings the best professionals from those fields to the beautiful Baroque city of Turin, Italy, for a week of talks, presentations and workshops.Registration is now open.
