Henry Golding will star in Paramount's "Tiger's Apprentice"

Henry Golding, actor and model born in Malaysia, successful star of Crazy Rich Asians, will face a different kind of professional challenge by playing the role of tiger in the Paramount Animation adaptation of Laurence Yep's children's book The Tiger's Apprentice (The Tiger Apprentice), scheduled for screening on February 11, 2022. Golding also heads Paramount Gi Joe relaunch of the franchise, Snake Eyes (October 23).

The Tiger's Apprentice (The Tiger Apprentice) will see the directorial debut of Carlos Baena, whose award-winning animated horror short film  La Noria has thrilled international film festivals in its debut in 2018. As an animator, Baena's credits include Pixar's Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E e Toy Story 3 and DreamWorks ”Monsters University".

Published by HarperCollins in 2003, the book introduces young readers to Tom Lee: a boy whose normal life in San Francisco has changed forever when he meets a talking tiger named Mr. Hu (Golding) and discovers he's the last of a long line of magical guardians. Yes, he has twice received the Newbery Honor award for his Chronicles of the Golden Mountains collection. The Tiger's Apprentice (The Tiger Apprentice) was followed by Tiger blood e Tiger Magic.

The writers are David Magee (Life of Pi, The Return of Mary Poppins, Disney's next live-action remake The little Mermaid), Harry Cripps (The magic pudding) and Kyle Jarrow (The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage!).
