The Super Nintendo World theme park will also be dedicated to Donkey Kong

It looks like the amusement park of Super Nintendo World located in Osaka, Japan, is to receive an area dedicated to the Donkey Kong video game, which is scheduled to open in 2024.

According to an official Nintendo press release, this new area will allow park guests to walk through the “lush” jungles where Donkey Kong and his friends live. There will also be roller coasters, interactive experiences and lots of themed products and food.

The same PR mentions how the addition of the new Donkey Kong area will increase the size of Super Nintendo World by around 70%.

Here's what Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto said about the new expansion:

“I am very happy to be able to make the world of Donkey Kong a reality by following the world of Mario. I'm looking forward to creating an exciting Donkey Kong experience with Universal's amazing team. It will take some time to complete, but it will be a unique area not just for people familiar with Donkey Kong games, but for all guests. ”

This latest announcement follows the reveal of the cast and release date of the animated Super Mario film during last week's Nintendo Direct.
