Characters

The Gummi-Glen Gummies are a group of Gummies that live in a hollow tree known as Gummi Glen which is the base of a vast complex of tunnels and rooms. They harvest the wild Gummiberry that grows around them in the forest and produce a powerful juice known as Gummiberry Juice. They hide from humans, with the exception of friends Cavin, a page and Princess Calla. It is never explained how they are related to each other (although it is assumed that none of them are biologically related), although the episode "Up, Up and Away" suggests that they are the last remaining bears in Gummi-Glen and at risk of extinction.

Zummi Gummi

He is an elderly bear who is the leader of the Gummi-Glen Gummies, although he often relies on the more practical Grams and Gruffi. He is the "keeper of the Gummi wisdom" and later the keeper of the Gummi medallion which he uses to read his magical book to become the magician of the group. He is forgetful (he is almost always shown reciting spells from notes instead of memory) and clumsy, often talks badly with his spoon and his spells tend to backfire. He is also afraid of heights.
Gruffi Gummi (voiced by Bill Scott in Season 2, Corey Burton in Seasons 6-XNUMX) - He's an old-fashioned bear who prefers to do things "the Gummi way". Extremely skilled craftsman and mechanic, he repairs old Gummi technology and hatches and builds traps around the Glen to take on humans and orcs. He is also a cunning strategist, constantly devising near-perfect ways to protect himself and the other Gummies from enemies like Duke Igthorn. Gruffi is a perfectionist, which can be his undoing at times. However, at other times, he is respected as the voice of stability and practical solutions when other Gummies fall into despair. He is also Duke Igthorn's most feared Gummi, probably due to his tactical strategies that consistently defeat him (and this fear is illustrated in a nightmare he has of Gruffi in “Toadie the Conqueror”).

Grams Gummi

She is another old bear who is the matriarch of Gummi-Glen. She acts as the mother of the group, who cooks, cleans and is the Gummi who makes the Gummiberry juice. He has the secret recipe in hand. He has an intense rivalry with Gruffi Gummi and tends to quarrel with him. His cuisine is not liked by most of the others, especially Gruffi.

Tummi Gummi

He is an overweight Gummi, declared a little younger than Gusto, who likes a good meal and would much rather eat Gummi berries than pick them (although he understands the importance of picking them). Of all the Gummi puppies at Gummi Glen, Tummi is the eldest (he is the equivalent of fifteen or seventeen years old). He has a relaxed and easygoing personality, which at times gets him involved in Cubbi's schemes. However, in dangerous situations, Tummi has shown exceptional courage and throughout the series demonstrates a natural talent as a sailor, gardener, artist and craftsman.

Sunni Gummi

Sunni is a preteen Gummi (the equivalent of ten or twelve years old) who dreams of becoming a princess just like her best friend, the human princess Calla. The Sunni is the most curious about human culture and human fashion, and the least interested in Gummi's story. She is the second largest of Gummi's puppies, behind only Tummi Gummi. Later in the series, she is shown to have a crush on Gusto and becomes close friends with Buddy.

Gummi cubes

Cubbi is the youngest Gummi-Glen Gummi (according to the Official Series Bible, about the equivalent of an 8-year-old) and dreams of becoming a great Gummi knight. He is fiery and gets distracted by anything mysterious or exciting, but his open-mindedness sometimes allows him to find simple solutions to difficult problems. Sometimes he wears a mask and becomes a vigilante known as the Crimson Avenger. He is the best friend of the human Cavin and was the first Gummi Cavin met. He is one of only two Gummies to appear in each full episode (twenty-two minutes), the other being Gruffi.

Augustus “Gusto” Gummi

Gusto is an artistic and individualistic Gummi who has been stuck on a desert island for twelve years with his best friend Artie Deco, a wise toucan (voiced by Jymn Magon in his debut episode, Brian Cummings for the rest of the series). Tummi and Gruffi were shipwrecked on the island of Gusto, just like a volcanic eruption and plunging the island into the sea. The three bears worked together and took Gusto home with them to Gummi Glen at the end of the second season. Gruffi tends to argue with Gusto for his out-of-the-box thinking and how much influence he has on Cubbi and the Sunnis. Gusto lives alone in a makeshift apartment behind a waterfall, but lives in Gummi Glen when the weather is too cold. While not necessarily considered a main character in the show due to his scattered and infrequent appearances, he is generally understood by the show's production staff and accepted by viewers and fans alike as the seventh Gummi.

Chummi Gummi

Chummi is an adventurous Gummi who was the youngest member of his group and thus the last surviving Gummi in Gummerset. Cubbi and Cavin stumbled upon an unconscious Chummi and his airship (a small wooden ship attached to a hot air blimp) that had been shot down by Duke Igthorn's orcs after seeing her fly over his castle in her latest idea to use the airship to capture Dunwyn Castle. Chummi was initially thrilled when she regained consciousness at Gummi Glen as she felt that it was home to hundreds of other Gummi. After repairing his airship, he offered to take the Glen Gummies with him when he set out to continue his search for the Great Gummies. Although initially ecstatic and eager to leave, after some reflection, the Gummi-Glen Gummies decided they could not abandon their duty to care for Gummi Glen until it was safe for the Great Gummies to return. After foiling Igthorn's plot.
