Martina and the mysterious bell - Esper Mami
Martina and the mysterious bell (original title Esper Mami Esper Mami Esupa Mami) is a Japanese animated (anime) series for TV, based on the Japanese comic Esper Mami written and illustrated by Fujiko Fujio (the author of Doraemon e The Monster Kid) in 1977. The manga was serialized in the magazine Shōnen Big Comic of the Shogakukan in 9 volumes.
The series was later adapted into an anime series in 1987 and into an anime film in 1988.
This series has a similar premise to one of Fujiko F. Fujio's early short films titled Akage no Anko ("Red-haired Anko"), later renamed Anko Ōi ni Okoru ("When Anko really gets angry"), which is about Anko Aoyama, a teenage girl who discovers her psychic powers and the dark secret of her mother's lineage of true witches.
History
Martina (Mami Sakura) she was a normal middle school student, until she realized she possessed supernatural powers. Using her powers and with the help of her childhood friend of hers, Thomas (Kazuo Takahata), solves mysterious events. When he feels that someone needs help, he uses the "teleportation gun" (a heart-shaped pin designed by Takahata) and materializes at the place he wants. So he saves people in distress with his psychic powers of him, such as telekinesis and telepathy.
Characters
Martina (Mami Sakura)
The main character. A student of Tobita Junior High School in "Sama Hill" on the outskirts of Tokyo. Her powers are awakened by an unexpected coincidence and she later uses the power for acts of kindness. She is bright, but careless and rather meddlesome. Martina (Mami) is not very good at study or housework, particularly in the kitchen, which becomes a recurring joke throughout the series. Her father is an artist and Martina (Mami) usually poses as a model for her painting in exchange for more allowances. She was about to reveal her supernatural power to her father, but her friend Tommaso (Kazuo) told her that her French ancestors were hunted like witches and she refrains from telling him. Martina (Mami) has red hair. She is wearing a white shirt with a sailor's kerchief, a blue scarf, a blue skirt, white socks and black shoes. When Martina (Mami) got ready to fly in the sky every night, she wears a white short-sleeved T-shirt, a blue dress, white socks and black shoes. Martina's (Mami) main power is telekinesis. She also possesses the ability to levitate (she can fly not only herself but multiple objects at the same time), telepathy and teleportation, although she often collides with objects and other people. Takahata has created a teleportation gun, so that Martina (Mami) can control her teleportation.
Thomas (Kazuo Takahata)
A student from Tobita Junior High School and best friend of Martina (Mami). She initially thought that Martina's (Mami) supernatural powers were hers, which shocked him greatly when she found the truth, but later supports Martina (Mami) in developing her powers of hers. She is a true genius, she helps Mami understand her powers and develop them. Even though she really likes amateur baseball, she's terrible, which causes Mami to sometimes secretly interfere to help her team. She often finds alibis for Mami whenever she has problems with her parents. She has a good understanding of Mami and often supports her.
He complained
A dog that looks more like a raccoon dog or a fox is Martina's (Mami) pet. He loves fried bean curd and often shouts "Fyan Fyan". Mary, the neighbor's dog, likes it. She understood human words and was always offended if she was mistaken for a fox / raccoon dog (a trait shared by another Fujiko F. Fujio character, Doraemon the robot cat). He initially hates Kazuo because he often accidentally sings songs about raccoon dogs, but later becomes friends when Kazuo rescued Martina (Mami) from a collapsed tunnel.
Father (Juurou Sakura)
Martina's father (Mami) is a painter. He often holds private exhibitions (but his photos don't sell very well) and also works as an art teacher at a municipal high school. He is a laid back, clumsy person who likes pickled radishes and a pipe. Her grandfather married a French painter, whose lineage is believed to be the source of Mami's powers. He evacuated schoolchildren in Yamanashi during the war. Because his father was affiliated with Europe and America, he was often bullied in his youth. He calls her daughter "Mami-kō" (Mami duke). She has a younger brother named Hyakuro and Ichiro, an older brother from the country.
Mother (Naoko Sakura)
Martina's mother (Mami). You work at the Asauri Newspaper overseas desk. You are a person of high morality. She often despises Mami for studying and housework.
Teresa (Hosoya)
The woman who lives in the same city as the Sakura. She likes gossip.
Franco (Satoru Takenaga)
Martina's (Mami) classmate and Takahata's baseball friend. He appears to be Yukiko's boyfriend. Person with a strong sense of justice, he is a member of the journalistic circle, even if rather unreliable, but he does not give in to the threats of criminals.
Noriko Momoi
One of Martina's friends (Mami). His nickname is "Non". He is a very optimistic person. He loves to cook and often feeds Mami and Takahata.
Norma (Sachiko Mamiya)
One of Martina's friends (Mami). Her nickname is "Sacchan". She is the calmest of the group. She appears to be Takenaga's girlfriend.
Tsuyoshi Banno
The delinquent. Martina's (Mami) powers first emerged when her group attacked Takabata. Mami's powers once passed temporarily to him by accident.
Takashi Tomiyama
Martina's classmate (Mami). He wears glasses and is a fan of classical music.
Narihiro Arihara
Director of the film club of Tobita Junior High School. He had plans to make a movie called "Transparent Dracula" with a character like Mami, but he wanted a nude scene of the character.
Shohei Kurosawa
Vice Director of the Cineclub Tobita. He was engaged in film photography when he noticed that the manipulation had been added to the image (by Mami). He began to believe that Mami was an esper and started following her around. His father is director of a first-rate trading company.
Taeko Kuroyuki
A childhood friend of Takahata. He calls Takabata "Kazuo" and is called "the wonder" by Takahata. She is in her early twenties and usually rides a motorcycle. She likes disco and alcohol.
