Director Kris Pearn and the team from Netflix and Bron Studios Canada got good news just in time for the Memorial Weekend vacation. According to the broadcaster, the fascinating family animated film The Willoughbys was seen by over 237,6 million viewers in its first month of release. Based on Lois Lowry's children's book, this colorful but unconventional film follows a family of children who come up with a plan to get rid of their neglectful parents.

Netflix claims that nearly 38 million individual accounts have signed in to watch at least two minutes of the film. This number does not include the number of Netflix accounts and profiles in a single household and does not take into account repeat viewing.

The film, released on April 20, features the voices of Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, Terry Crews and Ricky Gervais. Pearn's photo received a new 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, putting it on par with Aardman Shaun the sheep: Armageddon, another Netflix debut, which received 96% on the website.
