Sixteen South Roosts with Tencent, France TV and Technicolor for "The Coop Troop"

BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated children's TV show creators and producers Sixteen South Originals have revealed details of The Coop troop, their new fast-paced, fun, farcical and feathered comedy series. Currently in production, The Coop troop (52 x 11 ') is Sixteen South's first show for an older age group (6-9) and their first CGI animated series.

A co-production with Tencent Kids such as Tencent Video Original in China, France Télévisions in France and Technicolor Animation Productions, The Coop troop was co-created by Sixteen South showrunner Colin Williams and children's author and illustrator Alex T. Smith. The series is expected to be delivered in the spring of 2022 and is produced in Northern Ireland, France and China.

"Heroes come in all different shapes and sizes and The Coop Troop shows that you don't have to be privileged or have special powers to be one - you can be an everyday hero just by being yourself," Williams said. "We are very excited to be partnering with such powerful partners as Tencent Video, France Télévisions and Technicolor in our first super deluxe 3D CGI comedy for older children."

Smith noted, "It was a complete joy to work with Sixteen South again, on our homage to 70s and 80s TV classics as Team A, and I can't wait for viewers to tune in and join our crazy band. "

The Coop Troop is a gang of five unlikely heroes: the hyperactive rabbit Maggie, the eccentric inventor Flo the chicken, the bon vivant pig Clive, the excitable but insecure lamb Billy and the enigmatic egg Jo d'Oeuf. Thirsty for adventures to escape their mundane farm life, their mission is to help any animal with a problem and are kept occupied by the precious and pampered pets of the nearby town of Animauville.

When their red phone rings, someone needs help, so the troop departed to their chicken coop ingeniously, albeit haphazardly, modified to provide it. No matter how simple the problem is, The Coop Troop will always find a way to solve it, usually in the most torturous and exaggerated way possible, resulting in a growing comedy of ridiculous events as each mission loses control. As they frantically try to get things back on track, they attract more and more chaos with each turn, but with The Coop Troop, satisfaction is always (ultimately) guaranteed!

"International co-production is an important part of Tencent Kids 'strategy and we are thrilled with the results of our partnership with Sixteen South," said Selina She, Director of Tencent Video's Kids' IP Development & Programming Center. "The Coop troop not only will it entertain our audience enormously, but it will also show how friendship and teamwork can solve any problem. We can't wait to present it to the world in Annecy. "

Sandrine Nguyen, Producer at Technicolor, said: "We are very excited to partner with Sixteen South and Tencent on this incredibly fun and captivating series. Our adorable group of heroes have their flaws, but as a team they overcome them to emerge stronger. which is a valuable lesson for today's children and one that will resonate globally. "

“France Télévisions is proud to welcome The Coop troop aboard the Okoo Family. With their positive attitude, humor and goodwill, there is no doubt that this wild group will appeal to our audience of 6-9 year old girls and boys! " added Pierre Siracusa, Director, Animation, Youth and Education for the pubcaster.

Sixteen South Rights manages the series' global distribution rights outside of France and China.
