'Star Trek: Lower Decks' gets S3 Greenlight, S2 Premiere dates


The unfortunate losers of the USS Cerritos will continue their animated adventures in the space future! During its First Contact Day virtual event on Monday, Paramount + announced it Star Trek: lower decks has been renewed for a third season (10 episodes) and has debuted a new teaser for the second season which foresees the return of the show on Thursday 12 August.

First Contact Day free virtual panels can be viewed on demand on the Paramount + YouTube channel and Paramount + in the US, after their initial airing on StarTrek.com/FirstContact.

Set in the year 2380, Lower bridges focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet's lesser ships, the USS Cerritos: Ensigns Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), Ensign Samanthan Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) and Ensign D ' Vana Tendi (Noël Wells) must keep up with their duties and their social lives while the ship is rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies. Starfleet characters who make up the ship's bridge crew include Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis), Commander Jack Ransom (Jerry O'Connell), Lieutenant Shaxs (Fred Tatasciore) and Dr. T'Ana (Gillian Vigman).

From two-time Emmy winner Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites) and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard), the series is produced by Kurtzman and Heather Kadin for Secret Hideout, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth for Roddenberry Ent. and Katie Krentz for 219 Productions, along with creator and showrunner McMahan. Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout), who brought McMahan into the project, is the co-executive producer. Season 1 of Star Trek: lower decks is available to stream on Paramount + and will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD from CBS / Paramount Home Ent. on May 18.
