"The Great North" keeps cool with S3 Renewal on FOX

Amid a flurry of new series orders and renewals announced by FOX for the 2021-22 television season, fans will return to animated Alaska for a third season of The Great North, from Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard and co-creators / writers / EP Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Minty Lewis. The filming comes before the show's second TBA season, which itself was ordered last year, ahead of the series premiere.

The Great North follows the Tobin family's Alaska adventures, as a single father, Beef (Nick Offerman), does his best to keep his group of children close, especially his only daughter, Judy (Jenny Slate), whose artistic dreams they take her away from the family fishing boat and into the fascinating world of the local mall. Rounding out the family are Judy's older brother, Wolf (Will Forte), and her boyfriend, Honeybee (Dulcé Sloan); middle brother, Ham (Paul Rust); and her 10-year-old brother, Moon (Aparna Nancherla). Although the children's mother is not in the photo, Judy seeks guidance from her new boss, Alyson (Megan Mullally), and her fictional friend, Alanis Morissette (who plays herself), who appears to her in the Northern Lights.

The series is produced by 20th Television, featuring animation by FOX's Emmy-winning Bento Box Entertainment studio.

As announced, FOX's throwback animation list also includes Bob's Burgers, Duncanville, The Griffins e The Simpsons. Emily Spivey's Bless the Harts It hasn't been renewed for a third season, but audiences will get a glimpse of the new suburban pet sitcom housebroken with Lisa Kudrow (premiered May 31).
