VIEW presents a special panel on "Only a Child" shortlisted for Oscar nominees

The main Italian animation event, the VIEW Conference, continues its virtual programming throughout the year this month with a special presentation of Just a baby, one of 15 acclaimed films selected for this year's Oscar animated short.

After the virtual screening, tune in to a moderated question and answer session by an industry veteran K (director, Raining Meatballs 2, The Willoughbys), who will go behind the scenes with the director Simone Giampaolo - who oversaw the artistic contributions of over 20 animation directors to the short film - e Severn Cullis - Suzuki, whose powerful call for environmental action at the 1992 United Nations Rio Earth Summit as a young man inspired the film.

This omnibus film, through eloquent images and powerful animated allegories, was a channel for young animators to project their own message: each artist involved in the Just a baby used their unique style and technique to bring a segment of Severn's speech to life, including stop-motion, CGI, traditional 2D, cutouts, sand animation, glass painting, and more.

Just a baby has been selected by over 120 festivals around the world, gaining recognition and winning numerous prestigious awards including Best in Show at the SPARK Animation Festival, Nominations for the Swiss Film Prize 2021, Audience Choice Award at SIGGRAPH 2021, Best Youth Film in the Festival Regard , Best Film at 3D Wire Fest, Special Award at the VIEW Conference and Special Mention at the 28th Stuttgart International Animated Film Festival.

The film is produced by Amka Films, Gabriella de Gara and the leading Swiss producer Tiziana Soudani (1955-2020), in co-production with RSI Swiss Radio and Television SRG SSR, with the support of the Federal Office of Culture (UFC), Repubblica and Canton Ticino , Filmplus Fund of Italian Switzerland, Ticino Film Commission, Göhner Stiftung and Swiss Film.
