Cartoon Movie 2021 announces the selected projects

Scheduled for March 9-11, the 2021 edition of European animated films confab Cartoon Movie has announced this year's diverse list of selected projects. Cartoon's jury met online earlier this month to discuss proposals, choosing to include 55 films.

The selection list includes new works with familiar names. Buñuel in the Turtle Labyrinth director Salvador Simó is back with Caramel's World, about a deaf child living in a refugee camp in the Sahara (Koniec Films, Spain). nWave (Belgium) offers a new CG family comedy directed by Ben Stassen and Benjamin Mousquet: Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness. And Denis Do (Funan) follows his acclaimed directorial debut with Sorya, about a Cambodian teenager finding a path to stardom (Special Touch Studios, France).

European industry will also take a closer look at Jonas Poher Rasmussens' true story of a refugee Run away, Adapted by Haruki Murakami of Miyu Prod Blind willow, sleeping woman, A. Sequel to the film Checkered Ninja 2, two projects directed by The fantastic tale of Marona the director Anca Damian - starseed e The island - and a new mid-century fantasy adventure from Czech legend Jiří Barta, G.
