The Apple animated film 'Wolfwalkers' will premiere at TIFF

Mele wolfwalkers, the third animated film from two-time Oscar nominee Tomm Moore (The secret of Kells, Song of the sea) and Ross Stewart, co-produced by Cartoon Saloon and Melusine Productions, will make its world premiere as the official selection of the 45th Toronto International Film Festival.

The highly anticipated animated title joins the previously announced Apple Original movie Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds, a new project by acclaimed directors Werner Herzog and Clive Oppenheimer, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on opening night.

wolfwalkers follows the story of Robyn Goodfellowe, a young trainee hunter who travels to Ireland with her father in an age of superstition and magic to wipe out the last wolf pack. While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe who is said to have the ability to transform into wolves at night. While searching for Mebh's missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that drags her further into the enchanted world of the "Wolfwalkers" and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked with destroying.

Apple Original is directed by Moore and Stewart and written by Will Collins (Song of the sea). Paul Young, Nora Twomey, Moore and Stéphan Roelants are the producers. Moore has previously directed the Oscar-nominated animated films The secret of Kells e Song of the seaand Cartoon Saloon credits include Oscar nominee The head of the family - the last two films also made their world premiere at TIFF.

wolfwalkers will be streamed worldwide on Apple TV + after its theatrical run. GKIDS will act as a partner for theatrical distribution in North America. WildCard will act as the film's theatrical distributor in Ireland and the UK, Child Film will be a partner for theatrical distribution in Japan, Haut et Court holds the theatrical distribution rights of the film in France and Value & Power Culture Communications holds the rights for China.

An official Irish-Luxembourg co-production, wolfwalkers was produced with the participation of Value & Power Culture Communications Co, FIS / Screen Ireland, Film Fund Luxembourg, Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, RTE, Canal +, OCS and Pole Image Magelis, Charente Region Fund.
