Announce the dates and rules of the 48th Annie Awards

ASIFA-Hollywood announced Monday that, although the current pandemic has been a challenge, the 48th Annie Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, virtually or live. The final decision on whether the ceremony will be virtual or live will be determined this October 2020.

“What this epidemic has taught us is to be flexible in how we get our message across and share our experiences,” said Sue Shakespeare, vice president of ASIFA-Hollywood. "Regardless of how the Annies ceremony is presented this year, it will honor all the talents in our community of animators with the utmost respect and inclusion."

Key dates for the 48th Annie Awards Ceremony include:

• Call for Entries - Monday 4th January 2021
• Annies Submission Deadline - 17:00 PM (PST), Monday February 1, 2021
• Nominations announced on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 8:00 am (PST)
• Online voting starts Monday 29 March 2021 and ends Friday 9 April 2021

The rules and categories of the 48th Annie Awards were also published today, along with the start of ASIFA-Hollywood's annual membership campaign. All of this information is now available on the Annies website. Questions and concerns will be answered via the “Open Zendesk” tab on the site.

“The coronavirus has had an effect on almost everything in our lives. The Annies are no exception. Every year, the rules are changed and, this year, the dates have been changed too, ”said Frank Gladstone, Executive Director of ASIFA-Hollywood. “The most important thing right now is knowing that the 48th Annie Awards will be held on April 16, 2021.

Nominations submitted for consideration will come from animated productions released in the United States between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. The exceptions are commercials, short films, special projects, and student films, which may qualify with or without US releases. .

Registration closes on Monday 1 February 2021 at 17pm. (PST).
