'American Dad!' The 300th episode will premiere Monday on TBS

Animated comedy for adults American Dad! will debut its 300th episode on TBS on Monday, September 14 at 22pm. ET / PT - becoming the 00th prime-time series in TV history to reach the finish line. The show is now in its seventeenth season.

Reflecting on the show's success, co-creator Matt Weitzman wrote in a commemorative brochure prepared for the crew:

Seth MacFarlane: “The initial desire to develop a television show, to express his frustration with the state of our government and the world in general, is no less valid today than it was 17 years ago. Our world is super crazy and we continue to be its mirror of entertainment. In those early years, we had the gift of living in the shadow of The Griffins, where we could understand what kind of show we wanted to be. The term "darkly optimistic" was launched then. It always felt right to me.

“And while the focus of American Dad! moved away from presidential politics and moved on to how a talking goldfish finds a sexy girlfriend, the underlying power of family, and the love the Smiths have for each other, despite their differences - or thanks to they - were the backbone that allowed them to thrive and grow. They are all imperfect and wish to be better than they are. What is not to love?"

Ahead of the big 300th episode, viewers can regain acquaintance with the best aliases inhabited by the alien resident of the Smith family in The many faces of Roger Marathon. The five episodes that received the most fan votes will air from 19:30 pm. ET / PT. American Dad! centers on super patriotic CIA agent Stan Smith (voiced by the series co-creator Seth MacFarlane) and the misadventures of his unconventional family in Langley Falls, Virginia. Stan applies the same drastic measures to his family life used in his work at the CIA: Stan's blissfully unaware wife Francine (Wendy Schaal), has an unwavering loyalty that blinds her to his brazen arrogance. His daughter, leftist activist, Hayler (Rachael MacFarlane), he doesn't let go that easily - and he knows how to push his dad's buttons. Son Steve (Scott Grimes) is a geeky but confident guy who spends his time playing video games and is obsessed with the opposite sex. The Smith clan is complemented by two unconventional members: Roger (Seth MacFarlane), a sassy, sarcastic and routinely inappropriate space alien; and Klaus (Dee Bradley Baker), an attention-hungry goldfish with the brains of a German Olympic star.

“After 15 years of playing Stan, I'm happy to say he's still pretty much the same adorable idiot he always was: arrogant, self-righteous, impatient and misleading, while still being loyal, adventurous and determined. He may have gotten a little crazier over time, but who can really blame him, given everything he's been through? … The fact that people still come to me and tell me how much they adore Stan makes me proud of what the show has accomplished, while at the same time terrifying me for the future of humanity.

- Seth MacFarlane
