Disney removes the release of "Mulan" from the calendar and postpones "Avatar 2" and "Star Wars" by one year
As the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to sow uncertainty between film companies and film distributors, Deadline reports that Disney has mixed some important titles in its film release calendar by removing the live-action reinterpretation of the animated classic Mulan directed by Niki Caro from the scheduled date of August 21, 2020 without letting know when or where it could be transmitted.
“In recent months, it has become clear that nothing can be sure when it comes to how films will be distributed during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our plans for the film's distribution. Mulan in theaters as we evaluate the most effective way to bring this film to audiences around the world, ”a Disney spokesperson said.
The studio also rejected its plans for the film Avatar 2 e Star Wars. The film Avatar 2 is expected 13 years after James Cameron's 1st technologically innovative hit film.
Certain titles reportedly remain in the 2020 program, including often rescheduled New Mutants (20th Century Studios), Black Widow (Marvel Studios), adaptation of the graphic novel The Empty Man (20th Century) and Pixar Animation original Soul.
