VIEW Conference Announces Free Access to Its Largest Program!

To celebrate its 21st anniversary, the VIEW Conference in Turin brings together no less than 160 world-class directors, producers, studio executives, animators, artists, game developers, musicians, journalists and educators, during a vibrant week offering 125 online and on-site lectures, workshops, master classes and panels.

This impressive line-up will be presented 18 from October to 23 in Turin, Italy, and all sessions will be made available online. Also, for this year alone, all content - both the regular schedule and the special Business Innovation Summit - will be absolutely free.

“There has been so much bad news in 2020,” says conference director Dr Maria Elena Gutierrez, “so I'm excited to be able to share some great news for a change. Everyone could use a little more light and joy in their life, so we made the unprecedented decision to make this year's conference completely free! By supporting free access, each session will be available online, allowing anyone to participate anywhere in the world. "This is a fantastic opportunity to grow the VIEW community and to welcome participants into our family who are unable to travel to Turin or purchase a full access pass."

Among the prominent people of the conference we find Ed Catmull, the co-founder of Pixar and former president of Pixar and Disney AnimationStudios. Through their long careers, both have continued to take the art and science of visual effects to ever higher levels.

Furthermore, Paul Debevec, senior engineer at GoogleVR, will deliver an introductory speech for the launch of VIEW 2020 Business Innovation Summit. This carefully curated series of presentations and workshops takes place within the main conference and provides insight into not only the creative process behind the latest movies, games and experiences, but also the synergy between that creativity and the industries it serves.

“Our keynotes bring an extraordinary depth of talent and experience to the conference,” says Dr. Gutierrez. “Yet they are only the beginning. This year I am particularly proud of the diversity of topics and speakers. For example, 43 of our speakers are women, including studio directors, animated film directors, producers, visual effects artists, and game developers. We have a number of highly topical lectures and panels addressing manufacturing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, plus others reviewing the latest manufacturing tools and techniques, including a virtual manufacturing panel with Westworld's Jay Worth, Sam Nicholson of Stargate Studios and Habib Zargarpour of Unity.
