Dwayne Johnson joins the DC League of Super-Pets as Krypto, Seven Bucks to Produce

Big-screen action hero Dwayne Johnson is adding another ruff role to his animated credits, signing up to voice Krypto the Superdog in the animated comedy-adventure DC League of Super Pets. His Seven Bucks product is also on board as a producer on the Warner Animation Group film, due out May 20, 2022.

Directed by writer / director Jared Stern and co-director Sam Levine, the film will focus on the brave pets of DC superheroes created by comic icons Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster - including Superman's dog, Krypto; Batman's Dog, Ace the Bat-Hound; Wonder Woman's Kangaroo, Jumpa; and Supergirl's cat, Streaky the Supercat, who join in a crime-fighting menagerie.

Announced in 2018, the film was originally slated for release this month this year but was postponed a couple of months later. A promotional teaser featuring Krypto was unveiled during the pandemic-friendly DC FanDome virtual last August.

DC League of Super Pets is a Warner Animation Group production of Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Entertainment, Seven Bucks Production and Stern's A Stern Talking To. Animal Logic is producing the animation. Producers are Stern, Patricia Hicks and Seven Bucks' Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Executive producers are John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller.

Johnson is known to animation fans for voicing Maui in Disney Moana, with toon roles also included Planet 51 and Transformers Prime TV series. The former WWE star's live-action hits include the new one Jumanji movie, Fast & Furious monster movie inspired by franchise and arcade games Furia. He recently wrapped Disney's Jungle cruise and is currently shooting Black Adam (New Line / DC / Seven Bucks) as the title character and provided the voiceover for Jim Lee's animated short.
