New details revealed on Splash Mountain's "The Princess and the Frog" restyling

Disney has released 1818 new information and images regarding the new Splash Mountain makeover underway at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The makeover was originally announced in 2021 for both parks, seeing a massive overhaul arrive at the controversial racing theme which was based on Southern song. Disney said the review had been ongoing since 2019.

New details released by Disney have shared that the new The Princess and the Frog the themed race would end with “the last Mardi Gras party”. The new details were shared by Charita Carter, senior creative producer for Walt Disney Imagineering and team leader for the project, in a video that Disney released on August 23, 2021 during the first Princess Week held in the parks.

Carter says, "Because if Tiana is throwing a party, it's the last Mardi Gras party."

Speaking further on the theme of the Mardi Gras party, Carter adds, “Tiana actually invites us, as a guest, to go on an adventure with her in the bayou, and the funny thing is that we, as guests, are active participants in this. adventure. So he recognizes us, and being just the witty person he is, he walks us through this amazing journey where we discover not only the characters we know and love from the film, but this is an opportunity to get to know some new characters. "

Some of those characters, old and new, can be seen in a newly released image showing Tiana on a rowboat and a new set of clothes. On the change of clothing, Carter said, “Now you know he's royal, so everything he does is beautiful. But yes, she dressed appropriately for a bayou adventure ”.

Alongside the new theme, Carter also shared that the review would make use of visual effects to create a "seamless immersive environment" and advanced audio animatronic figures that enhance storytelling and "change the game."
