Reed moves MIPCOM, MIPJunior plans to work at the same time

Event planners have made some key changes to plans for Reed Exhibitions' (Reed MIDEM) fall content markets in Cannes, according to a statement released by MIPCOM and MIPJunior director Lucy Smith.

“For many of us, MIPCOM 2021 will be the first international TV commercial market that we will participate in live in nearly 18 months and we want to make sure that everyone who wants to be there can be there,” Smith wrote. "We are responding to the unique challenges of planning a major exhibition under the current circumstances, with the ultimate goal of ensuring a flexible and vibrant market for everyone attending Cannes this October."

Notable updates to event plans include:

• MIPJunior will take place during MIPCOM (11-14 October) in the Palais des Festivals, instead of the traditional run of the previous weekend.
  • MIPJunior's conferences and networking take place in a dedicated venue in the Palais, while the Screenings Library, which distorts young people, will be integrated into the MIPCOM Digital platform.
  • Participation in the MIPJunior is included in the MIPCOM registration this year.

• New floor plan of the show with a simplified exhibition footprint. Booth holders are allowed to change the size of the booth as needed, and the event offers help with decorating solutions for a variety of needs and budgets.

• Riviera 8 Room will now be a multipurpose venue for events such as the MIPCOM Opening Party, Women in Global Entertainment Lunch, conference format and networking lounge.

• New digital MIPCOM the extension will function as a networking, discovery, marketing and lead generation platform for use by in-person Cannes visitors and virtual attendees worldwide. Includes the MIPJunior projection library.

• Security protocols: MIPCOM, Reed Exhibitions and the City of Cannes are working together on a coherent and comprehensive set of measures to mitigate the transmission risks of COVID-19. Track updates here.
