History

The Midnight Gospel stars an astronaut named Clancy Gilroy, who lives on the Chromatic Ribbon, a membranous, ribbon-like planet located in the middle of a colorful void where farmer simulators use powerful bio-organic computers to simulate a variety. of universes from which they gather natural resources and new technologies. Each episode revolves around Clancy's journeys through the planets within the simulator, with the beings inhabiting these worlds as guests he interviews for his podcast program called spacecast. These interviews are based on real interviews, with real audio derived from Trussell's podcast, The Duncan Trussell Family Hour. Episodes typically end with an apocalyptic event that Clancy can barely escape from.

Clancy visits Earth 4-169, which is in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Clancy, in the form of a beach physique, decides to interview the sim Glasses Man, who turns out to be, in fact, the President of this universe. A group of anti-marijuana protesters gathered outside the White House, apparently indifferent to the zombies around them. This ignites the debate between Clancy and Glasses Man about whether there is a "good drug" or a "bad drug". Over the course of the episode, the two discuss the pros and cons of psychedelics, the dangers of drug use if not well educated, and whether or not drugs can be beneficial for an individual's personal spiritual growth. They end up helping a pregnant woman give birth before being turned into a zombie. However, they find this new situation a relief. This doesn't last long, as they get hit with a cure that brings them back to life which, ironically, means the zombies can kill them again. Clancy returns to her dimension, along with a local dog named Charlotte, as the Earth explodes.

Clancy visits "Clown World" as a strange creature mixed with a pop-up ad that has infected his computer. While witnessing some dog-deer devouring little clowns, he meets two of them, Annie and Raghu, and the trio is sent to a slaughterhouse where they are converted into sentient creatures of mush. They discuss the concepts of death and acceptance with Annie about people who were close to her who had no choice but to accept, due to cancer. With Raghu they discuss Christianity and Jesus when he faced death. As they speak, it is revealed that the inhabitants of the world have been taken over by robot clown heads. A resistance group starts a riot and destroys the facility by creating the meat mush. Clancy, Anne and Raghu are devoured by a giant fly, then regurgitated to feed her little worms.

Clancy gains a new subscriber named Daniel Hoops who wants Clancy to get him some ice cream. He heads to an “Ass Cream” planet, which is actually a world that has been completely flooded and meets a fish man named Darryl, who has a whole crew of cats. Together, they embark on an elaborate ship with non-Euclidean geometry. Clancy helps him acquire a special device that allows them to traverse an ice-covered part of the world. Darryl explains how his time in prison helped him redefine the term "magic" to mean anything that someone can achieve on a spiritual level such as Buddhism. Note that Western magical paths, such as the one embraced by Aleister Crowley, are meant to achieve enlightenment in a lifetime. It also explains how meditation is the key to obtaining magic and how the Bible "
