Vinnie Bell, the animator of Buffalo Bau and Harvey Birdman dies at the age of 89

Vincent "Vinnie" Bell, an animator whose 50-year career spanned everything from Golden Age Terrytoons shorts to 80s kids' favorites The Berenstain Bears (Berenstain Bears) to 21st century adult comedy Harvey Birdman, died at the age of 89. The talented artist passed away at home in his hometown of Port Chester, New York on February 1st.

Born on October 27, 1931 to Vincenzo and Mariee Iacobelli, Vinnie Bell graduated from the Port Chester local school system and served with the US military during the Korean War before starting his animation career at the famous Terrytoons studio, just down the street in New Rochelle. He started out as an inker and painter before becoming an excellent animator, giving life to cartoon shorts with Clint Clobber, Sidney the elephant, Dinky Duck e Gaston Le Crayon. In subsequent years, he worked on Terrytoons TV series such as The Deputy Dawg Show (Buffalo Woof in the Italian version) e Mighty Mouse.

In the decades to come, Bell has contributed his talent to several projects, such as Ernest Pintoff's Oscar winner The Old Man and the Flower, John Hubley's geological journey Dig,, several movies de The Berenstain Bears (Berenstain Bears), TV movie, by Michael Sporn Nightingale, The film of Lizzie McGuire e Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, to which he lent his invaluable experience as a cartoonist in the 60s and 70s to retro-inspired animation and artistic backgrounds. Bell has worked in the industry for 50 years contributing to Saturday Night Live e The best of Funhouse TV in 2006/7.
