SCAD presents the fifth annual animation festival from 23 to 25 September

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) will hold its fifth annual EXP AnimationFest in a completely virtual format, 23-25 ​​September. Presented by SCADFILM, the school's signature festival will feature three days of special sessions and screenings, starred presentations and panels, and a showcase of animation excellence in student work. The event will provide global access to the industry's creative geniuses at the pinnacle of animation, visual effects, motion media design and gaming content across all platforms and genres.

A highlight of the SCAD AnimationFest screenings will be the premiere of Hex Limit, an amazing collaborative work by the students of SCAD Animation Studios. The 3D animated film features an unusual broom chase as three characters race for the title of champion through a cyber-fantasy city. The festival also features a special session dedicated to the making of this exceptional animated short and a look at how SCAD pushes the boundaries of animation, storytelling and visual effects. Additionally, SCAD AnimationFest will feature a showcase of SCAD's student films The Ocean Duck, available for viewing on demand during the three days of the event.

SCADFILM presents the 2021 Award of Excellence to the Oscar-winning director, story artist and animator Everett Downing Jr., recognizing his transformative achievements in animation during his historic career. SCAD AnimationFest will also present a look inside Downing's new Netflix series, We the People.

The programming curated for the festival represents the experience and excellence of the university's high-level degree programs of the SCAD School of Digital Media and School of Entertainment Arts.
