Animation events: Afternoon of Remembrance, THU Career Camp and more

The Animation Guild held in 2022 Afternoon of Remembrance, celebrating the lives of those the industry has lost in the past year, this one Saturday February 5 around noon to 17pm PST. The Afternoon Of Remembrance is a nondenominational event where the animation community gathers to greet friends and colleagues who left us last year. The virtual event will include speakers from all over the world. After the live stream, the memorial will be posted online and available for viewing.

THU Career Camp, one of the largest online events focused on recruiting and mentoring, returns to the web from 8 to 10 March. Companies confirmed so far include Kojima Productions, Lucasfilm Animation, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Industrial Light & Magic, Sony Pictures Animation, Supercell, Axis Studios, Frontier, Lightheart Entertainment, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Blue Byte, Platige Image, Skydance Animation, Polygon Pictures, Outfit7, DNEG Animation, Cloud Imperium Games, Atomhawk, Fortiche, Space Ape, Technicolor Creative Studios, Mikros Animation, Wildlife, Rovio Entertainment and La Tribu Animation. The event will feature spaces for interviews with recruiters, mentoring and portfolio review sessions, career development interviews / questions and answers, and the brand new Technical Track (workshops and tutorials for industry tools) and Tribe Talks (suggested topics and / or presented by the participants).

Hiroshima animation season

Due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus surge, he recently announced Hiroshima Animation Season 2022 opened a second application period for his Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence (H-AIR), which invites three animation professionals from Japan and abroad to stay in the city of Hiroshima for six months from May 1st to October 31st 2022. During the residency, guests will participate in cultural exchange activities while they work to their projects.

The program will include citizen animation lectures and workshops, such as the Machikado Animation Class (citizen animation production project), as well as exchanges with residents of Hiroshima city and the areas where guests stay (Tsurumi-cho, Yokogawa and Minaga), and people involved in art and culture. The selection committee (Nobuaki Doi, Koji Yamamura, Shizuka Miyazaki) will examine proposals for unreleased animated productions or related projects, such as novels, comics and films intended for adaptation in animation, as well as research projects.

Kaboom Industry Days

The Dutch and international animation industry will meet once again in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for 2022 Kaboom Industry Days (Kaboom Industry Days), which will be held on March 28 and 29 at HKU Oudenord Arts College. The first day will focus on the future of Dutch animation trends and business, while the second day will be dedicated to new talent during the Young Professionals Day.
