CG pioneers Paul Debevec and Donald Greenberg at Keynote VIEW


The VIEW Conference announces that two of the most respected computer graphics researchers and teachers, Paul Debevec and Professor Donald Greenberg, are in the process of presenting the 21st annual symposium on digital media.

Paul Debevec is a senior scientist at Google VR and an associate research professor in computer science at USC, working at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies. He has received numerous awards for his work, which includes developing image-based models and lighting digital objects with real-world lighting. He has received SIGGRAPH's first significant new Researcher Award, the SMPTE Advancement Medal and two Academy Science and Technology Awards. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a member of the Visual Effects Society, and was a member of the executive committee and vice president of SIGGRAPH.

Donald P. Greenberg

Dr Donald Greenberg is Jacob Gould Schurman, Professor of Computer Graphics at Cornell University, where he teaches computer science courses in Computer Science, computer-aided design in the Department of Architecture, animation in the Department of Art and technology strategy in the Business School. He is director of the computer graphics program and was the original director of the Computer Aided Design Instructional Facility at Cornell University. Five former students have won Hollywood Sci-Tech Oscars and five have won the prestigious SIGGRAPH Achievement Award. Dr. Greenberg's honors include the ACM SIGGRAPH Steven A. Coons Award for Outstanding Creative Contributions to Computer Graphics, the NCGA Academic Award, and the ASCA Creative Research Award in Architecture.

They are the perfect speakers to highlight the October VIEW conference in a revitalized Italy. "

The VIEW 2020 conference is now accepting proposals for its film competitions: The 2020 VIEW Award for animated short films with its first prize of € 2.000 and the ItalianMix award for Italian short films.

The VIEW Award is open to professionals or students, individuals or groups. Entries must be 2D or 3D animated films of at least 30 minutes created after January 1, 2019. An international jury drawn from the VIEW conference roster will award the first prize of € 2.000.

Italian artists who work individually or with a group can compete for the ItalianMix prize and the winner will receive a Wacom tablet. Animated, experimental or documentary films of at least 30 minutes created after January 1st 2019 are accepted.

All dialogues in each film inserted must be in English or Italian or have subtitles in English or Italian. Each submission should be accompanied by a press kit, a description of the project, high resolution still images of the work and credits from the director.

The international VIEW conference, the main Italian event of computer graphics, interactive and engaging storytelling, animation, visual effects, games and VR, AR and MR, brings the best professionals from these fields to the splendid baroque city of Turin, Italy, for a week of talks, presentations and seminars.

The VIEW 2020 conference will take place from 18 to 23 October in the exciting new OGR headquarters in Turin.
